GLOSSARY
Travel Industry Related / MLT Specific terminology for your information.

AIRLINK - A carrier that has an agreement with another to provide transportation to their passengers going to a destination that they do not serve.

AIRPORT CODES - Three-letter code that identifies the city.

ALL-INCLUSIVE - A hotel or resort that along with the room provides,
food, beverages, along with other activities/add-ons -the optional items vary from property to property.

AOC - Air Outlet Center.

AVAILABILITY - Unsold seats/hotel rooms/cars/etc.

CARRIER - An airline company.

CHARTER - A specifically scheduled flight reserved for a tour company/companies and or a private group.

CONSUMER DIRECT - The public person calling into reservations, thus by-passing an intermediary, such as a travel agent.

COURTESY HOLD - A booking/reservation with no payment.

CRS - Computer Reservation System - links distributors and suppliers to a central storehouse of information.

CYBERFARE - A fare published and available only on the Internet.

DEPARTURE CITY - Where the flight leaves from.

DESTINATION - Where the flight is ultimately going to.

DIRECT FLIGHT - A flight that DOES make intermediate stops-no plane change involved.

DOCUMENTS - A packet of coupons/tickets/vouchers/etc that are redeemable for a service.

E-TICKET - Electronic ticket - no paper necessary to board a flight-a passenger provides legal ID.

EUROPEAN PLAN - A hotel or resort that is providing only the room.

FARE RULES - The conditions that must be met to qualify for a specific fare - i.e. Advance purchase, specific days to fly, when payment must be made, etc.

FLY/DRIVE - An independent vacation that includes air transportation and a vehicle.

GROUND TRANSPORTATION - The type of service provided to get a client moved from airport to hotel, as well as from a hotel to an attraction.

GROUP - 20 persons or more traveling together on the same Itinerary.

HALF-ROUND - One half of a round trip - this flight will require the purchase of a return segment.

HUB - City/cities an airline uses as a connecting center to provide as many flights as possible to and from outlying areas.

IATA/IATAN NUMBER - An identification number that represents affiliation with organization/s that allows agencies to sell tickets and create order and stability in the travel industry.

LAND - A term that may be referring to anything from a hotel to a car rental - could be anything but the air portion of a package.

LENGTH OF STAY - The travel industry predominantly refers to the length of a vacation in number of nights, not days.

LIFT - Number of seats sold on an aircraft.

MANIFEST - A list of passengers or clients on an air flight or staying in a hotel.

MCO - Miscellaneous Charge Order: an accountable document issued by a travel agency that has monetary value.

NON-REV - Non-revenue producing passenger - persons flying on employee benefit passes are referred to as Non- revs.

NONSTOP FLIGHT - A flight that makes NO intermediate stops.

ONE-WAY - A flight going to a destination with no requirement for a return.

OPEN JAW - Fly into one airport - return home from another e.g. MSP-MCO-TPA-MSP.

PACKAGE - Air transportation and the hotel stay (minimum number of nights) or car rental (minimum number of days) that meets the requirements for a Worry-Free Vacation or WorldVacation.

PIM - Pricing and Inventory Management.

PNR - Passenger Name Record - the "file" in WORLDSPAN that contains flight/passenger information and confirms anairseat/waitlisted seat.

PROPERTY - Another name for a hotel or resort.

PUBLISHED AIRFARE - An airfare available to everyone - advertised.

REZ - Reservation Department.

ROOM BLOCK - The number of rooms that MLT Vacations Inc. has contracted with a particular property - that we may sell.

SCHEDULED AIR - Flights on regularly scheduled air carriers that is pre-planned and published to the public.

STANDBY - A person trying to obtain space on a flight listed as full.

SUNTRAC - MLT Vacations Inc.'s in-house computer system.

TCV - Transportation Credit Voucher.

TRANSFERS - Transportation either purchased or included in purchase that moves customers from the airport to a hotel and back again.

UNACCOMPANIED MINOR - Child traveling without adult supervision - a fee is generally assessed - the age of the child considered a minor varies between scheduled carriers and charter.

UNPUBLISHED AIRFARE - An airfare that is available only through MLT Vacations Inc. - almost always requires a land purchase to qualify - these are generally lower priced fares to encourage package purchases.

VOUCHER - A coupon that is redeemed for a service.

WAITLIST - A list of persons seeking a service that is sold out.

WORLDSPAN - Computer reservation system (CRS) hosted by Northwest Airlines.
