FROM THE PRESIDENT

July 2001

To my fellow MLT'ers,

As I hope you've seen over the last year, the Executive Team is committed to timely and relevant communications with all employees. We have implemented a variety of communication vehicles -face to face, written and electronic to insure you are as informed as possible about how and what MLT Vacations is doing.

One of the communication vehicles we feel is most critical in our plan is the launch of a quality Intranet site. It plays a key role in the execution of our 4-core strategies. The site will:

  1. Help us build, market and deliver products or services that exceed our customer expectations.
  2. Enhance our quality, speed and efficiency in a variety of ways.
  3. Facilitate growth of new ideas and programs.
  4. Help each one of us be more successful and informed.

I am initially planning on updating a message like this one, to you approximately each month. I will continue the Vector management meetings, "Lunches with John" and other communication opportunities.

What I really want you to remember though is that any great company is characterized by free flowing communication in both directions. I can't possibly know what every problem, issue, opportunity or accomplishment is unless you tell your manager and me. Please share your comments and suggestions with me via e-mail at jtemple@mltvacations.com or 952-470-3002. No topic is off limits! I ask only that you be honest, clear, constructive and thoughtful.

We're a service business and dependent on quality people. I want to thank you personally for your continued energy, accomplishments, and dedication. Tour operation is an extremely challenging business - perhaps now more than ever. I'm totally convinced we have or are building all of the key ingredients we need to be successful on a long-term basis. The road to that success will be filled with change but I can assure you that I will exhaust every effort to keep you informed of what we're doing and why we're doing it.

On the personal side, I hope you're enjoying the summer of 2001. Spend quality time with your families and loved ones. Work hard, enjoy life and above all-make a difference! I'm counting on you.

Warmest regards,

John T.
